This easy homemade Jamie Oliver Mango Chutney recipe is made with sweet mangos, spicy ginger, chili powder, red chili, and flavorful nigella seeds. It also includes white wine vinegar, granulated sugar, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, and garlic. 

This Indian-inspired chutney is best served with Lamb Curry, Turkey Curry, Steak Sandwich, Salisbury Steak and Pasta Primavera.

Mango Chutney Ingredients

  • 2 kg Mangos (firm but ripe)
  • 8 Cardamom pods
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 1 Fresh red chili
  • 500 ml White wine vinegar
  • 400 g Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • 2 tsp Nigella seeds
  • 8 cm piece of Ginger

How To Make Mango Chutney

  1. Preparation: Peel and chop the mangos. Remove seeds from cardamom pods. Finely chop garlic and red chili.
  2. Sugar-Vinegar Mixture: In a large pan, add vinegar and sugar. Heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil and reduce slightly.
  3. Spice Mix: Toast cumin, coriander, and cardamom seeds. Crush them along with chili powder.
  4. Combine: Add the spice mix, chopped mango, nigella seeds, and 2 tsp of sea salt to the vinegar mixture. Grate in the ginger and add garlic.
  5. Cook: Bring to a boil, then simmer for 45-60 minutes until thick. Add chopped chili in the last 10 minutes. Store in sterilized jars.
