  • 12 ounces tomatillos (about 6)
  • 1/2 large yellow onion
  • 1 1/2 medium jalapeño peppers
  • 3 cloves unpeeled garlic
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil, plus more for the grill
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
